Here is a topic in English. (From the top of my head)
Just to start something I choose “What if...”
Go back in time and think of something that made you think differently, changed your opinion about something. An event that made you choose a different path, or changed your life.
What if you chose differently? What would the outcome have been today?
Think of things in the world around you, leaders, presidents, volcano eruption, bad weather and all kind of stuff you can think of.
What if the temperature in Texas suddenly fell down to -20c (-4F) and you got 7 feet of snow in one week?
What if all the oil deposits suddenly went dry?
What if Texas and Alaska switched locations? (It may be the reason for all the snow?!)
And then there are things in history.
What if the ice age never ended?
What if Hitler never came to power?
What if the electricity never was invented?
What if the dinosaurs were still alive?
What if the cold war went hot?
And then there is the weird and abstract.
What if the gravity never was invented?
What if all of the weather forcasters didn't want to work anymore?
What if all of the glass in the world wasn't transparent anymore?
It’s for sure millions of other what-ifs. This is just a few. The question is what would it be like? (It's weird, I know, but it also get your creative mind going in a fun way)
Please tell me your own what-if topic. There is no such thing as a stupid question, just stupid answers.
This is probably not the best blog idea, but it's good exercise for my English.

Well I for one am really glad Texas and Alaska haven't switched places.. which probably would have facilitated the drop in temperature and 7' of snow :)
SvarSlettOh and i'm not sure if gravity was invented? Pretty sure it was already there. And if it was invented... who would have made all the money off of the patent?
What if I didn't go out one faithful night in November 2004?
What if I didn't live in Texas?
What if I knew the numbers to the $178.000.000 lottery jackpot that has a drawing tonight??? (someone please let me know if they do.. We can split it)
Well, you never know these days with all the earthquakes and tsunami. All I can say is that the globe is alive... so one day you wake up in 7' of snow in the north. So lets just pray Texas stay home with you.
SvarSlettThe invention of the gravity, well....weird and abstract. Isn't it called the "law of gravity", and was written by Sir Isaac Newton? So let's say discovered.
You did go out that November day in Texas and the long connections of coincidences some would call fatih. Whatever it is it's a nice chain looking back at it.
The lottery "numbers in advance-machine" I am still working on. When I'm done you get your numbers.
haha love your guys "what if's"
SvarSlettespen doesn't seem to believe in "fate" like i do. :) but it sure does make you wonder "what if"
my favorite though is "what if i won the lottery"
your english is great kjetil! im quite impressed! keep em coming we love reading them! good luck with your schooling it seems you're doing awesome!
Thank you, it's good practice writing like this. Specially with someone who dosen't speak norwegian.
SvarSlett"What if I won the lottery" is pretty common thought I think. If I get rich I buy you an icecream machine, hopefully with a small display that shows the lottery numbers days before they are drawn. Curly pink digits on a light blue background. :)
I cant say I belive in "fate" too much either, it's more like most of it is based on choises. At random or a dream come true.
To say it in another way: It's like a plane ticket, you go from one point to another on a planned route. To me and Espen it's more like taking off and see where it goes.
A good meet in the middle: The ticket in your case, I think it only tells a hint of the direction you are going, not how far.
Dont take the big jets, the possibilities are so few, and it goes to fast. I think the best choice is a smaller and slower amphibious bush plane, then you have time to look around and you can land almost anywhere. Suddenly there is a ton of possibilities to explore.
Well, enough metaphor enigma chit-chat. What if I really got you an icecream machine, would you search like crazy for a blue display?
What if internet suddenly ran away?
What if we got a visit from another planet in another solarsystem? And it was quite many of them, started to live together with us humans here on earth. I think phrases like "out of this world" and "what planet are you on?" will have a new meaning, and the "miss universe" contest would have a whole new dimension to it.
"We come in peace" yeah right... I would tell them there was a much better planet closer to the sun. The big shiny ball in the center is warm and nice, don't have to worry about heating expences anymore.
Well, I'm running out of time here. The next challenge is a "what-if" that is not containing any money and cars of any kind, if it have spinning rubber-things on it, out the door.
School is going very good :) I just hope I can continue at the same level. Have a wonderful day.
